Wild woman quote: Love

Pele: The Hawaiian Goddess of Fire

Thanks Tish for your wonderful reminder the other day of the legendary writer Clarissa Pinkola-Estes.

In case you don’t know of her, Clarissa wrote the book Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of The Wild Woman Archetype,

This book calls upon the eternal feminine qualities in each of us and asks us to acknowledge and celebrate them in a way that’s also honouring nature, the seasons and the deep muddy pathways we take through life. It’s wise and wonderful. Here is one powerful quote about love. I think its equally as pertinent to men as it is to women.

“Love in its fullest form is a series of deaths and rebirths. We let go of phase, one aspect of love, and enter another. Passion dies and is brought back. Pain is chased away and surfaces another time. To love means to embrace and at the same time withstand many ending, and many many beginnings – all in the same relationship.” Clarissa Pinkola Estes

  1. Oh gods – I love her writing so much! It’s wonderful when we suddenly remember a writer or artist who makes our heart sing. I had a similar experience recently, re-reading Sufi poetry. I had forgotten how much I love it.

    1. Thank you dear Fabienne, I hope your Christmas or litha celebrations were lovely. I am so glad this struck a chord with you and you found it inspiring. This book totally changed my life when I read it many years ago, I think it’s time for a re-read it’s one of those books where you always find new insights on the second and third read. I hope you are enjoying summer, I certainly am :). I am going to read some sufi poetry too it’s really great and I miss it as well

      1. Happy reading! There’s so many wonderful authors around!

We have had a lovely mild summer in Melbourne so far, although I think that changes tomorrow 🤨 I’m not a huge fan of anything over 30°!

      1. I am really very introverted too so that makes two of us. I am actually pretty shy that is a relief you say that, look forward to it. 😄
