The excluded, the ignored, the silenced and the invisible ones

Be One EP by Brian Cid art comforting

Hey you, I know you. The girl or boy who tried to speak, but whom nobody heard.

From age zero to age 18 and beyond.

Yeah you! I can see you and I know you.

Although there’s nobody oppressing you now

Or denying your right to exist

The importance of your voice

Or the sacredness of your light remains

It was never silenced and never dimmed

Despite what they said.

You are valid and you do matter.

Your thoughts, your energy, your mind and heart – you exist and you matter.

The adult version of you knows this.

Those who truly love you know this too.

The open sky and ferocious sea knows this

The rustling leaves and the predictable arc of the sun across the sky knows this.

You, like everyone else, are only here for a short while and the light you leave in your wake blasts away the shadows.

You can be your own beacon

Reflected in the mirror lake of your own soul
