My life without a barrage of news

My life without a barrage of news

Did you hear the news? That the news is corrosive and cancer-causing? It calcifies your organs with anxiety and fear. It gets into your processing pipes and fills them with congealed sagging lassitude and indifference.

Well no, not really I just made that up because inside of my body I feel news weighing upon it like a burden unspoken and futile.

Why worship false idols like celebrity and gory distraction and death by economic comparison, the legitimate idols of news soothsayers and advertisers?

Since I’ve stopped consuming news I’ve felt the weight lift off me and suddenly I have my life and peace back. The peace of a thousand puffy clouds and uninterrupted cerulean blue yonder.

Never before have I been so keenly aware of my own privilege in living in a peaceful part of a peaceful nation than since I’ve removed the news.

I am knowingly thankful every single day for having blue skies above me and vast endless sea at strolling distance.

Despite not keeping abreast of senseless violence, murder, chaos and greed, courtesy of human nature on steroids, I still inherently know it’s all going on, out there. If you remove news like I have, you can begin to see your own humble impact on those around you, you can ringfence a sighing breath or two, or a lifetime, and gaze wonderingly into the vastness once more. Gaze inward and witness yourself unhindered and unmediated by rabidly nosy technology. If you choose to, if you choose to not read the news and instead – read yourself.

  1. Hey there, just wanted to share a bit about my life and my thoughts on this post…

My wife and I decided a while back not to have a TV subscription. Honestly, it’s been a breath of fresh air! While the world seems to be in constant chaos, our little corner in Vermont has always been pretty quiet and uneventful… well, until recently.

For years, I’ve had this nagging worry about losing access to birth control due to the political climate in the USA. See, I was born intersex, and I depend on birth control for my hormonal balance. It’s more than just a convenience for me; it’s essential for my health. Plus, let’s be real, it keeps me looking young and fabulous!

The best part? This year, our state made a bold move. They declared that if birth control ever gets outlawed in the USA, Vermont would just peace out of the union. Talk about taking a stand!

So, in conclusion, while I might not have the latest TV series to chat about, I live in a state that’s ready to go rogue for my right to look hot and stay healthy. Vermont: small but mighty, and possibly the next mini-nation filled with fabulous, hormonally-balanced hot looking women, like me and my wife. 😉🌟

    1. I am so glad to hear that Thomas! Vermont sounds like its a wonderful place to live and be happy as intersex people…that’s something to celebrate! Also with the TV license you are not missing much at all in my opinion either. TV and news is like a shallow basic and ultra mainstream version of what people’s real lives look like. We can be at peace and happier without a halfbaked narrative informing us of what’s possible or what’s not possible in life xx

  2. The current state of news around the world is nothing short of disturbing. It seems like every day, all we hear and see is bloodshed, suffering, and tears, which can be heart-wrenching. However, can we ignore these happenings and just look the other way? Unfortunately, the answer is no. I believe that something has gone wrong with the creation of humanity, and this is why we are seeing such pain and destruction in the world. The only thing that truly pains me is to see innocent children looking towards the future with hope and optimism in their eyes.🙏😪

    1. Yes very true Aladin 👍 it is so difficult to look the other way….it is impossible really. Yes the children, my heart is ripped apart for what is happening to them I donate to a charity helping them in Palestine and hope this helps in a small way then just don’t watch much news because it breaks my heart over and over again. Same with Ukraine and all other wars too. I think you are right, something has definitely gone wrong with the creation of humanity and we are evolving as a species into something altogether scary…if we only buy that version of humanity depicted on the news. But if we instead believe in the type of humanity that we feel inside its a different story, more loving, more kind and less chaotic.
