If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

This is based to this list of questions famously proven by social psychologists to foster friendship and connection among those who answer it. Please reply along with your own answer in the comments below or repost this to your blog with your own answer.

I would be a mastercraftswoman in an artform and be able to create music, paintings, pottery or writing of such sublime beauty that it would give me deep satisfaction and happiness.

I wouldn’t do it for the purpose of selling it and making money, but just for the purpose of creating beauty and giving joy to myself and other people who experience it.

The intensity of the violin and fast-paced Celtic style music has always appealed to me. So I would likely want to have a supreme talent for the violin. I have always admired people who make beautiful clay sculptures as well, so perhaps this art form.

And another thing…I always have wanted to create a fantasy world as well with strong characters and a compelling plot, this always seemed beyong my capabilities so that would be another skill I would love to conjure into reality.

I also greatly admire people who can build things with their own hands and skills. A skill like this is timeless, it would be hugely impressive achievement to build your own house I think.

    1. Oh yes! That’s a brilliant idea Simon being able to control magnetic fields. This would be an amazing Hey did you see the beautiful solar storm of the past few days? this was truly spectacular, it reminded me how small and insignificant we are in comparison to this big unknowable universe and this filled me with awe and gratefulness at being alive.

    1. Not really haha. The cover image of the cat eating a world I put in here because I was looking for a decent photo for ages, but couldn’t find one and the cat with the world someone sent to me and I found it really cute, so I added it here. I fully agree with you here my friend, if there is a god or gods I would ask them to make the world kinder, fairer and more just for all those who are oppressed in the world, human and non-human beings.

  4. I also have a soft spot for violins. ๐Ÿฅฐ If you’re interested in something a little different, check out Kishi Bashi. He’s a classically trained musician who plays with looper pedals and just has fun with making music. I love, love, love this one! If you only have a minute, the solo around 5:20-6:10 is great.

    Also, I love the idea of being a master craftswoman. I’ll have to think more about it, but my first inclination is carpentry. I love antique furniture built to last for generations with lots of beautiful details, and it would be amazing to make something like that with my own hands.

  5. I often find myself yearning for the prowess of a musician; the capacity to both sing and wield an instrument to create music would be a remarkable addition to my repertoire. My aptitudes already encompass a formidable intellectual acumen; a unique skillset that blends engineering with creativity.

    I am adept at construction and repairsโ€”recently, I successfully reengineered the water supply system here at our house, enhancing a system that extracts and purifies water from our well, filtering, conditioning, and elevating it beyond the quality standards of U.S. municipal water. Now when I get water from the tap, it tastes like bottled water.

    To answer your question, the ability to master music would be a cherished skill to acquire.
