Every Picture Tells A Story: Chefchaoen, the blue-walled city

In 2009 I went to Morocco and the blue-walled city of Chefchaoen. This was probably one of the most unexpectedly photogenic and beautiful places I have ever seen. A beautiful and hot oasis that arises out of the African desert like an exotic flower. Unlike the bigger cities in Morocco, Chefchaouen had a quiet market town feel, in the souk I spent hours wandering through labyrinthine alleyways and coveting the beautiful handmade leatherware, ceramics and carpets.

    1. I felt sorry for the donkey, he was carrying a heavy burden. Nice photo. I guess one bummer of a thing I would like to try to forget is how in Africa they didn’t treat the animals very nicely.

  1. Yeah that’s one of my favs too with the dappled light from the vines. The colours were very vibrant there, I will never forget it, especially the hessian bags filled with the powdered dyes. I couldn’t capture how vibrant the colours of the dyes were in the photos. I wish I could go back.
